The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe:  Simplicity 8423

Since I’ve been working on set, I’ve realized that I can never have too many comfortable outfits.  I really do love a jumpsuit even though you have to get totally nude just to pee.  But when I saw this pattern, I fell in love.  I love that it’s open and airy and the pockets make it a real winner.

Pattern: Simplicity 8423 Drop Waist Jumpsuit / Romper / Jumper

Fabric: knit mesh print from The FIDM Store

Style: Jumpsuit

Vintage/Contemporary:  Vintage © 1993

Pattern Edits:

1. I didn’t make any edits. This pattern was perfectly simple and I plan to use it again with a different material…perhaps a heavy corduroy for the fall?

Lessons Learned:

1. Matching up prints can be hard with any fabric.  But it’s especially hard with a stretchy knit.  Because the fabric pulls and moves all on its own, your best efforts to match up your panels can go awry.  That’s what happened here.  But thankfully, I cut the pattern larger than my size.  So when it came time to correct the matching mess I’d created (by shifting and cutting off more fabric), I didn’t end up with a too small jumpsuit.
