Art Farts: Bloom Show

BLOOM2.jpg

Thanks to a Facebook notification, I was clued into the Bloom Art Show that went down at Griffith Park June 22-24th.  The thumbnails alone sold me on the event. But I was also super excited to know that the money I spent on the ticket woud be going to help  upon further inspection, I was glad to know that the $25 ticket fee would be going towards a charity that  helps protect the bees. And if the Bee Movie taught us anything, it was that those buggers (see what I did there?) are necessary AF.

Before we get into the amazeballs pics Hubby and I took at the show, let’s talk a little bit about what Bloom actually is.

“BLOOM is an interactive, pop-up art show with nearly a dozen large-scale installation art pieces, spread out over 100,000 square feet of lush grass in Griffith Park on June 22, 23 & 24.

“With giant dandelions to wish under, a rolling field of pinwheel poppies and a House of Flowers, you will be playing in rose petals and weaving yourself into a sea of jacaranda. We invite you to delight in our creations, snap a selfie (or 500), stick your toes in the soil, envelop yourself in the scent of wild jasmine, soak in a tub of fresh lavender and picnic under the flower teepees with us.

“BLOOM is partnered with Honeylove, a local nonprofit conservation organization with a mission to protect the honeybees and inspire and educate new urban beekeepers. We will have presentations on these crucial pollinators throughout the day, provided by Los Angeles' The Valley Hive.

“With a focus on handcrafted art, BLOOM aims to leave your spirit uplifted and your camera full of fun pictures. From edible flowers and delectable treats to hands-on workshops, food trucks and musical guests, we will celebrate Los Angeles and the outrageous beauty of flowers.” Source

All of the installations were gram worthy, some were even interactive.  In addition to the installations, there were several stands set up so attendees could make crafts like flower headbands and garlands.  I didn’t participate in any of those because there was an additional fee and I don’t’ believe in additional fees.

I did, however, save a few dollars for some food.  Bloom had some really great food vendors they worked with like The Grilled Cheese Truck, GTS Living Foods, Boketto Cold Brews, Dreamy Creations and Leccare Lollipops.

I knew that the event would be full of flowers and color and joy, so I saved the floral, yellow, shelf-bust, Rockabilly dress that I made, specifically for this event. Check out how I sashayed that hot little number all up and through Griffith Park.

On to the flicks!
